The Catholic Church in Kuwait celebrated its second Unity Congress last week. The theme this year was “Let us celebrate Him!”.
This year’s focus was on understanding the various Rites within the Catholic Church. Till yesterday I didn’t know we had so many Rites. I was aware of just a few. An exhibition is open at the City Cathedral premises to showcase the Latin, Maronite, Coptic, Syro Malankara & Syro Malabar rites.
Above is a painting depicting the Holy Family’s journey throughout Egypt. I was amazed to see so many Egyptians at the exhibition. The interaction between the various Arab, Indian & Filipino communities at the exhibition too was astounding. Everybody was curious to know more about the others Rite.
This exhibition was well prepared and very informative. I’ll try to drop by the exhibition again. Its a great learning opportunity for everyone.

I was under the impression ‘Coptic’ is not catholic.

All the Eastern churches except the Maronite Church have both Catholic and Orthodox Churches. The Coptic Orthodox and the Coptic Catholic, the Greek Orthodox and the Greek Catholic, the syro-malabar catholic and the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church, the Syro Malankara Catholic Church and the Indian Malankara Orthodox Church or Malankara Orthodox Church etc. etc.
